The significance of “Pierian”.

In Greek mythology, the Pierian Spring was a spring in Macedonia, sacred to the goddesses of the arts and sciences. Drinking from the Pierian Spring was believed to grant inspiration and wisdom. Today, it's a metaphor for the pursuit of knowledge, inspiration and deeper inquiry.

“A little learning is a dangerous thing; drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring: There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, and drinking largely sobers us again.”

Alexander Pope, 1711
